Tegan and Sara upcoming album Love You to Death

After three years, Canadian duo Tegan and Sara are back with another album Love You to Death, to be released June 3rd!

Many fans of the twins' music were unsupportive when they dropped their raw vocals and coffee-shop acoustic roots in exchange for a more polished synthpop, but in my opinion Heartthrob was a great transitional album into the mainstream that had just the right amount of emotional depth in a commercial package. What I liked about Heartthrob was that it had elements from their previous records, themes of love and heartbreak, but was more lighthearted and upbeat. I do miss the more stripped-down sound and creative lyrics, but there is something to be said about their growth as artists, and the fact that they are showing a mature and dance-able side to their music that fans have not seen before.

Only time will tell what Love You to Death will sound like, but based off of their two singles, they are maintaining a pop-dance aesthetic.They brought back producer Greg Kurstin who also worked on Heartthrob and used longtime visual director for their cover art, Emy Storey.
