Contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, who I might add is one of my favorite pop artists, collaborated with Kanye West to make the album art and cover art for the related singles on his 2007 Graduation album. Rolling Stone announced it as the fifth best album cover of the year. The illustrations were also brought to life in West's animated music video "Good Morning".
Graduation was the third and final addition to West's two previous educational themed albums. The art for all three albums centered around the story of "Dropout Bear" the anthropomorphic teddy bear representation of West.
You can see in the pictures that he combined colorful pastel imagery with niche superflat post-modern art influenced by anime.
